- 21 soldiers of the Sikh regiment fought in the Battle of Saragarhi against 6,000-10,000 Pashtun tribesmen in 1897, in what is considered by some military historians as one of history’s greatest last stands.
- During the Indo-Pak War of 1947-1948, a battalion of the Sikh Regiment was the first unit to be airlifted to Srinagar to aid in the defence of the Kashmir Valley against Pakistani irregular forces.
- The Sikh Regiment has participated in all wars fought since 1846 around the world, including the two World Wars.
- Sikhs won 28 battle honours in WW I and 21 in WW II.
- Subedar Karam Singh, a Sikh regiment soldier was the first living recipient of Param Vir Chakra.

- Class compositon of Maratha light infantry draws inspiration from Chatrpati Shivaji Maharaja’s army.
- In the First World War they won 21 battle honours which was the most by any regiment.

- Some soldiers of the British India Dogra Regiment became part of the Indian National Army under Subhas Chandra Bose.
- Sir Fredrick Roberts, the then commander-in-chief of India, who decided to add a Dogra regiment because he was impressed by the tenacity,loyalty and soldierly qualities of Dogra troops.
- Vijay Kumar Sharma, Subedar Major of Dogra regiment is a sport shooter from India. He won the silver medal in the individual 25 metre rapid fire pistol event at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
- The 4th battalion of Dogra Regiment has the additional honour of being the first battalion of the Indian Army to be deployed on the Siachen Glacier.

Some Interesting facts about The Grenadiers
- Before 20th century, During frontal assault Grenadiers were the ones who specialized in throwing grenades.After the introduction of artillery they became a regular battalion but tradition still continues and toughest of the soldiers are still recruited in Grenadiers.
- The Grenadiers played an important role in the Kargil War of 1999 against Pakistani military personnel that occupied Indian territory. Their gallantry was displayed during the battles of Tololing, Point 4590, the Three Pimples and most significantly in their historic re-capture of Tiger Hill.
- The Grenadiers have the unique and distinct honour of having the most number of Param Vir Chakras, India’s highest medal for gallantry.
- Subedar Major Yoginder Singh Yadav is the youngest and the only living recipient of Parmam Vir Chakra.
- Havildar Abdul Hamid posthumously for his actions during the Ind0-Pak war of 1965. Hamid destroyed six Pakistani tanks and was killed during an engagement with a seventh. He is known as the Tank Man of Indian Army.

- They are one of the most feared soldiers in the world and have won the respects of even their enemies.
- The Gorkha Regiment also has a tradition of sacrificing a male buffalo on the festival of Dusshera. The head of the buffalo has to be severed in one clean sweep of the khukri. Defense Ministry put this tradition to an end in 2015.
- Field Marshal Manekshaw once famously said “If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gorkha.”
- Officers in the Gorkha Regiments of the Indian Army have to learn the Gorkhali language to be able to interact with their men in their native tongue.
- Troops of the Gorkha Regiment come from Nepal because of which certain Gorkha Regiments were kept by the British Army at the time of partition(six with India and four with Britain). Since the troops were not from India, the British reposed more trust on the Gorkha Regiment before independence as the chances of mutiny were less.
- There was a event during kargil war when Gorkhas have out of ammunition and were surrounded by pak army. Instead of backing off and knowing that enemies are double in size they started to chop them like vegetables with only khukri.

- The Sirmoor Battalion (later the 2nd Gurkhas), which won fame in the siege of Delhi in 1857, had 33% Garhwális on their rolls at that time.
- Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat of Garhwal Rifles who won the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously as a result of his actions during Sino-Indian War in 1962.Another honor bestowed upon him is that he continues to serve even after death; he has been awarded promotions as if he is still serving.The Hindi movie 72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died, is based on the story of Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat.

- . The regiment was initially formed by East India Company to fight the French army in battles for the conquest and defence of the south-eastern coastal part of Indian sub-continent.
- In the 2nd Anglo-Maratha war , 9,500 British and Madras sepoys with just 17 cannons defeated a mammoth Maratha army of 40,000 Infantry and 40,000 irregular cavalry armed with over 100 cannons.

Some Interesting Facts About J & K Rifles
- Its origins lay in the Jammu and Kashmir State Forces of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. After the accession of the state to the Indian Union in October 1947, the State Forces came under the command of the Indian Army.
- It was their heroic stand of J & K state forces during the Indo-Pak war of 1947, that gained time for the entry of the Indian Army and thus saved the Kashmir Valley. The heroic defensive stand made by the outnumbered and ill-equipped, J&K State Force saved the J&K, otherwise the map of India would have been different.
- Vikram Batra of this regiment was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for displaying unparalleled courage and determination in eliminating a Pakistani position at a ledge because he was aware of the importance of his task during the Kargil War.In the 2003 Hindi film LOC Kargil, Abhishek Bachchan played the role of Captain Batra.
- Rifleman Sanjay Kumar of this regiment received Param Vir Chakra for his gallantry acts during the Kargil War
